Tech Studio Hours*: Wednesdays (3pm-5pm) and Saturdays (12pm-5pm)

*Closed on Saturday, Dec 23rd and Wednesday, Dec 27th. We will reopen Saturday, Dec 30th.

Special Note: COSI's Tech Studio is now open for kids of all ages and their parents (activities best suited for children ages 8+). During these hours, Tech Studio is free, regardless of COSI admission. Time and experience are subject to change.

COSI's Tech Studio offers multimedia activities for all ages, including 3D modeling/printing, music recording, video production, digital art, coding, and animation. The studio is open, and free, on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

Tech Studio utilizes the following hardware/software:

- Logic Pro X, and Garageband software for recording and mixing

- DSLR cameras, lenses, tripods, lights, microphones
- Adobe’s Premiere Pro software for video editing

- MIT's Scratch software and platforms for game design

Workshop topics include: 3D modeling/printing, music creation/audio recording, video production, digital art/graphic design, coding/programming. Workshops recommended for 5th grade and up. Max of 15 participants per workshop. Any learner under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult learner, who is also registered for the workshop.

February 10th
10am - 12pm
Learn to use Autodesk software for 3D modeling. Additionally, 3D printing basics will be discussed, and Tech Studio 3D printers will be on display.*

March 10th

Work with the DSLR cameras and learn basic camera functions (shutter speed, aperture, ISO, frame rates) and videography techniques. Additionally, explore Adobe’s Premiere Pro software for video editing.

Laser Cutting 101
April 28th
10am - 12pm
Learn about the function of Tech Studio’s 40W laser cutter and engraver and use Adobe Illustrator to layout both a cut and an engraving. Discover the versatility of Laser CNC machines by investigating settings for a wide range of materials. Want to cut your design? Stick around for our 12-5pm open hours.

Explore Hydrogen, a free drum machine application, and use Apple’s Logic Pro X software to create music with virtual instruments (midi controllers).

Electronics Prototyping
April 14th

Receive an introduction to the Arduino language (a branch of C/C++) in order to construct basic circuits using the Arduino Uno controller and solderless breadboard. Also, learn to write code to take input from sensors to control LED lights.
