Emergency Day
October 18, 2008 - October 18, 2008

What would you do if a bomb went off in the middle of the city, or floods threatened your neighborhood, or fire ravaged your home?

Do you know how to deal with a city-wide catastrophe, or prevent household emergencies if they occur? Get prepared at COSI's Emergency Day on October 18, 2008. COSI is bringing dozens of Central Ohio agencies together for a full day of simulated emergency responses that will educate and prepare you for your worst case scenarios.

Witness a planned explosion on COSI's front lawn and the chain of response from the city’s emergency personnel. Meet the Canine Substance Detection bomb dogs and see the Med Flight helicopter land right on the front lawn. Peek inside a HazMat vehicle, fire engine and ladder truck, ambulances, highway patrol cars, National Guard search vehicle, and other heavy duty rescue vehicles. Tour a HazMat tent, inspect a real decon suit, see robots that simulate trauma victims for ER training, and experiment with black light technology to detect glowing germs and learn about looming pandemics. more info...
