Lets try this again in plain text!
Lists- =20 (Please excuse the cross-posting)
Hopefully someone can direct me towards information (books, websites = etc..) on setting up an efficient data library structure. I need to transfer = my data over to a new server soon and thought it might be time to look = over the existing setup. The new server will hold the "gold plated" version of = the data my dept is responsible for, and will also be a clearinghouse for = copies of datasets locally created & maintained by other depts. =20
Our datasets are stored in a combination of extents: 2000'x3000' tiles = (190 tiles), and city-wide. All of tiled and much of the city-wide datasets (80%-90%) are stored as covs, with the remainder stored as shapefiles. There is also a small amount of AutoCAD DXF and DWG data (mostly = annotation that AutoCAD Map can't import). All of the attribute data is stored in = INFO or Dbase. We do not have any attribute data stored in a RDBMS.
I would like to implement ArcSDE, but that is not an option at this = time. SDE for Covs, as well as librarian might be an option.
I'm open to any suggestions and information that helps me create an efficient data library structure.
Thanks,
