An Israelian map editor sells road maps with risk-danger-hazard area
mapping (because of several attacks). Vehicles between the settlements have
been equipped with a GPS receiver and a mobile telephone set to give the
alarm.

Note: a similar system (GPS + mobile telephone) exists in South Africa,
also because of insecurity.

No more missing children thanks to the German alarm!

Here is some propaganda about a technology from Siemens in Germany and
Denmark : thec hild can communicate with his parents owing to a portable
telephone which is hidden inside his teddy-bear rucksack. The child just
needs to press the bear's nose and thus, it will send the coordinates with
a 50 meter precision, thanks to the on-board GPS receiver.

Geolocalisation are included little by little in the world of mobile
telephony. In France, it is the Orange operator which drew the first, by
presenting Wap services, and two plays drawing left the localization from
our portables. =20

Orange, the mobile branch telephony of France Telecom (FT), launched, there
is nearly one month, and a little in catimini, the first Wap services
drawing bet from the geolocalisation, this technique which makes it
possible to locate the geographical position of each portable telephone.
It is the first French operator to propose such services. Technically,
Orange called upon Mobil Positioning System (MPS) of Ericsson, who allows
to locate a telephone with a margin of 500 meters. Cnil (National
Commission of Data processing and Freedoms) was largely consulted, and
obtained that a message to be validated appears before each connection
calling upon geolocalized services. On the gate Wap d' Orange, the heading
does not pay a mine. Baptized " In the vicinity ", it proposes
restaurants, service stations, or ideas of exit according to the place
where one finds. The branch of France Telecom does not provide the
contents but only the geographical co-ordinates of the telephone to
specialized companies. The guide Michelin, the Post office, the Guide of
Routard or Mappy provides the contents thus. If it is too early to take
stock of the heading " In the vicinity ", FT acknowledges without evil that
for a service not having had a communication campaign, the results are very
encouraging. Accessible to all the owners from Wap terminals, and not only
with the Orange subscribers, this service is invoiced like any Wap
consultation, i.e. at the duration.

Far from stopping there, the department Research and Development of France
Telecom come to present two plays using the geolocalisation. They were
tested for two months, in Marseilles, by 170 volunteers. The first,
GeoQu=EAte, were developed with the assistance of Ludigames. It is a kind of
cultural play of track, which trains the players in various districts of
the city phoc=E9enne. Several enigmas punctuate the play, and condition the
passage of the stages. The geolocalisation is a means here of checking
that the player is at the good place, and that it cheating not. Orbital,
the second play, was developed him with the assistance of Infra Games. It
is about a set of space adventures alternating combat and trade which aims
at a public more confirmed. While moving in the city, the player
multiplies the possibilities and the richness of the play. If the two
plays had a very positive reception according to FT, the telephone operator
admits that the rather poor graphic aspect (due to Wap) could reject some
of them. So technically thus, the geolocalized plays are ready, Orange
refuses for the moment to communicate a date of exit. The ne
