Translate them into a MapInfo TAB format making certain you know the SHP projection. If you do not have the ability to go to TAB but to MIF first then you can pull a shareware from bluemarblegeo.com

Hello fellow GISlisters,
I have to create a custom map to be placed in Excel (as opposed to providing a separate map to refer to). What format are the maps that Excel uses? The maps I currently have are shapefiles. How can I get these into Excel?
Thanks
Rick Gray
