Subject: GISList: New Product: dlgv32 Pro
Date:  08/27/2001 06:26:59 PM
From:  dlgv32

What follows is an ad for a new GIS-related product.

dlgv32 Pro (www.dlgv32pro.com) is a commercially enhanced version of the
original dlgv32 software from the USGS. The following is a partial list of
what dlgv32 Pro can do. For more details and to download a free copy of the
software, please visit the website.

- Supports all import formats supported by the original dlgv32. This
includes DLG-O, DRG, DOQ, DEM, SDTS DLG, SDTS DEM, GTOPO30, TerrainBase,
etc.

- Support the latest DEM and SDTS DEM formats, including decimeter DEMs.

- Supports opening DLG-O and DEM files directly from gzipped archives. This
means that you can save space and hassle by not having to decompress the
data after you download it.

- Supports opening SDTS DLG and SDTS DEM files directly from .tar.gz
archives. This saves the major headache of decompressing each SDTS transfer
into a separate directory.

- Much improved display of vector data. Polygons are now filled and things
such as roads or features with names now display names or icons where
appropriate. Also, minor features don't show up until you've zoomed further
in to reduce clutter. For example, if you have a lot of roads loaded, the
residential roads are not displayed until you zoom in pretty far (this is
configurable).

- EXPORT SUPPORT! You can now export all currently loaded vector data as a
DLG-O file or a DXF file. All raster data can be exported as a GeoTIFF image
or a DEM file if elevations are present. This also means that you can merge
multiple data files into a single data file.

- Slide over text. Now when you move your cursor around the screen you'll
get a description of the nearest feature automatically displayed in the
status bar.

- Improved configuration. You can now filter the types that you want
displayed at any given time. You can also select the projection and datum
that you want the currently loaded data to be displayed in.
Support for the LULC and GNIS file formats has been added. You can read
these directly from gzipped archives or from the uncompressed files.

- Auto-clip collar for DRG's. You can now have the collar of USGS DRG files
automatically clipped off. This allows you to seamlessly view a collection
of adjacent DRG files.

- Added keyboard navigation. You can now pan about with the arrow keys and
zoom in/out with the page up/page down keys.

- Much improved support for SDTS TVP data that are not DLGs.

- Support for DOQQs.

- Support for generic JPG files with an associated world file (i.e.
TerraServer).

- Search by name for all loaded vector data.

- BIL and FLOAT/GRID support. In particular, the National Elevation Dataset
(NED) is supported.

- DXF import.

Feel free to contact me at dlgv32@yahoo.com if you have any suggestions or
comments. As you'll see on the website, I am making updates several times a
week, so I will likely be able to incorporate any bug fixes, new features
very quickly.

Thanks,

dlgv32 Pro Support
