TIGER data 2000 @ 1:100k - you have to get the data for each county in
Michigan by the ALL COUNTY. Geography network in shapefile format at ESRI's
geography network.

The GNIS database @ 1:24k I usually save the page as a text file, parse the
records in Excel/Access and then divide min/60 and sec /3600 to convert from
Lat/Long Deg/Min/Sec to Decimal Degrees.
The GNIS web query page has changed

I queried Michigan as the state name, populated place as the feature type
and 1,000 TO 10,000,000 population range
Here is what the raw data will look like:

Subject: GISList: looking for vector data
Greetings list.
In my search for data for the states where we manage property I have
discovered that each state has different ideas on what to offer up on the
web in terms of GIS data (downloadable).... Can someone help me find a site
for Michigan with vector data, and in particular, some data on towns. The
data that ESRI provides with the software is limited to large cities, I need
something that shows me smaller towns. Point data would be fine. Any ideas?
I have been to the Michigan DNR and DOT web sites with no luck.
