Hi John,
Indian Space Research Organisation is the primier organisation which enabled utilisation of the RS and GIS in many application areas. Urban planning is one such application area and substantial RS and GIS integrated work is carried out covering all metropolitan cities of India. Different sub-units of ISRO such as Space Application Centre, Regional Remote Sensing Service Centres, National Remote Sensing Agency are the major participating agencies contributed in this exercise.

Hi List, I am doing a market research project to find out the utilisation of GIS/ satellite imaging for large metropolitan Corporations in India. Does anyone know if GIS is being utilised by large City councils, Land reclamation and Environmental impact studies. Who are the key companies supplying services in this market?
