Subject: GISList: Printers
Date:  09/06/2001 10:01:26 AM
From:  Elizabeth Martinez

Greetings list,

I am looking for a color printer for maps that vary in size from 8 1/2 x 11
to about the size of a quad sheet. Most of the maps would be normal page
size to 11 x 17..

The information on these maps would sometimes include the topo tiff image as
a background with various property boundaries as a layer. So far the little
inkjet printer can chug a map out in about 5 minutes, but if there are too
many quads in the layout the printer can't handle it and freezes.

I need to know what criteria I should be looking for in a printer. I am
responsible primarily for marketing and informational materials, and maps
for real estate transactions (packages) at the moment. Some maps
(especially ones for certified wood properties or in Park areas) have a lot
of layers.

I want the maps to look good, and the color to be close to what I have on
the screen. Speed is somewhat of an issue.

Please advise.

Thank you

Elizabeth
