Subject: GISList: Afghanistan data
Date:  09/21/2001 08:53:06 AM
From:  B Richey

Glenn and List,

This is more info to what Mr. Stahl stated earlier, unless your colleague is
part of DOD, Fed Gov't or Defense Contractor, it will be difficult for them
to secure the maps he/she might need for Afghanistan from NIMA. (I would
like to get certain data for Afghanistan but cannot get this data due to the
lack of a clearance for the it). As of a few days ago, the
www.dscr.dla.mil/pc9 web site was totally locked out for anyone with a .com
IP address (I know I was one of them). That web site is now back up. If
your colleague is part of any organization stated above and has a clearance,
he/she should have no problems ordering maps from DSCR (after filling out
the required paperwork). They can even order the maps on-line. All the
required info they need is located at the above web site or call
1-800-826-0342. If you or anyone needs any addition information, just
contact me.
