Subject: RE: GISList: Afghanistan data
Date:  09/21/2001 09:16:15 AM
From:  Gene Stahl

Anthony and List -

Before we get too suspicious of any/everyone (which is what our terrorist
enemy
wants to happen), the someone could be anyone in the country. Also I
sincerely
doubt that we need to question or be concerned about a contact of Glenn's.

That said, there is no guarantee that the "terrain" of the country will
change
that drastically regardless of what actions are taken. And even if it did,
unfortunately there is enough data available on the Web to update any base
map
to whatever level of detail you'd like.

S/F !
Gene

Hmm, wonder who that might be ? Problem is, there is really no "base" to
map. CNN had some pretty nice maps up, but scale is so small its can't be
considered a useful map for your "someone". Besides, it looks like it's all
going to change anyway pretty soon unless you know something the rest of us
dont.

preferably topo maps 1:100K or better

Any ideas on where to start?

Regards
glenn
