Maptitude GIS for Windows Version 4.5 ($495 plus shipping) comes with=20
nationwide 3-digit and 5-digit ZIP Code Tabulation Area (ZCTA=99)=
boundaries.=20
ZCTAs were created by the Census Bureau as a way to tabulate census data by=
=20
ZIP Codes. ZIP Codes are attributes of addresses, so creating areas for ZIP=
=20
Codes can only be done by approximation. ZCTAs take advantage of the Census=
=20
2000 Master Area File, from which the majority ZIP Code can be determined=20
for the addresses in each block. ZCTAs were then extended into adjacent=20
blocks that had no ZIP Codes available. The special 5-digit water ZCTAs=20
(ending in HH) had no population and were removed. The special 5-digit=20
ZCTAs with names ending in XX have been converted to numbers ending in 00:=
=20
these cover large undeveloped areas with no assigned ZIP Code.

Both of the ZCTA files contain tabular data from the 2000 Census, based on=
=20
the demographic profile of about 100 variables.

For more information on Maptitude, please visit our web site at=20
(http://www.caliper.com/maptovu.htm). Maptitude is sold with a 30-day,=20
money-back guarantee. You can download a PDF of the order form at=20
(http://www.caliper.com/PDFs/maptordr.pdf).

Caliper Corporation also provides, quarterly, nationwide ZIP Code=20
boundaries based on data from Geographic Data Technology (GDT) for use with=
=20
Caliper GIS software. The cost is $295 plus shipping. For more information,=
=20
see (http://www.caliper.com/zipcodes.htm).
