Subject: GISList: Export Files/Master Database
Date:  10/26/2001 09:41:50 AM
From:  Davis, Amin

Hello, ALL

I am wondering what would be the ideal file format (e00, A/I
coverage, dxf) to receive vector data in that could be used by the multiple
GIS/graphics programs that my company uses. We have come to a point where we
are integrating ArcView 3x w/ MapInfo. We plan to upgrade to AV 8.1 w/in
the next 6 months. We also use ArcInfo (very little), ACAD 2000 and
Microstation J.
A couple of months ago we dedicated a large part of a server as a
master GIS database. A large part of this was to facilitate more efficient
file management. One of our departments has begun using MapInfo as their
primary GIS software. The way our company works, there will be little
chance that we would convert to using solely Arc or MapInfo...

Thank You,

Amin Davis
