Subject: GISList: ArcView 3.2 to ArcGIS 8.1: new question
Date:  10/27/2001 01:10:56 PM
From:  Jeff Jenness

Hey guys,
I recently upgraded to ArcGIS 8.1 but I'm still intending to do work in ArcView 3.x. I
recently realized I needed to pick up ArcPress for AV 3.2 so I called ESRI to order it. I was
told that, by upgrading to 8.1, I was no longer licensed to use ArcView 3.2 and they wouldn't
sell ArcPress to me. They said this was in the license agreement. I've been arguing with them
all week but I still get the same response.
I read over the license agreement and I can't find anything it it that says I forfeited the
right to use AV 3.x when I upgraded to ArcGIS 8.1. Has anybody else had this experience? I
thought we could run both versions if we upgraded, but maybe I'm wrong. I'd sure appreciate
hearing from the user community if anybody has knowledge or experience with the licensing rights
for 3.x and 8.1.
Thanks in advance for any responses! Apologies for cross-posting.
Jeff
