Hi,
I`m currently looking for maps in GML (Geographical Mark-up Language)format, for a project I`m working on. Does anyone know where I might find some (preferably free) or be able to help me get in contact with someone who could help me?
Also what are the views of the people on this list about GML?
Good idea, bad idea? Do you think it would offer you any advantages over your current data format?
If any of you don`t know what I`m talking about, then GML is a dialect of XML, developed by the OpenGIS Consortium specifically for marking up geographical information.
The specifications are at http://www.opengis.net/gml/01-029/GML2.html while there are a couple of intorductionary papers to GML at http://www.galdosinc.com/technology-tech_info.html
Thanks in advance,
Chris Quinn, University College Dublin.
