Subject: GISList: MapInfo - MS Map problem
Date:  11/17/2001 09:43:36 AM
From:  Richard Gray

Hello MapInfo gurus,

I tried to send this email to the MapInfo tech support,
then to MapInfo-L, but it got bounced at both so I will try
the trustworthy GIS-L.

As a first semester GIS (Applications Specialist) student
at Sir Sandford Fleming College, in Lindsay Ontario, we
are using MapInfo 6.0. I want to bring a map I have created
into MS Excel and link it to a spreadsheet for a project I
am working on. When I follow the instructions in the
MapInfo Knowledge Base I have no success. I get the error
message "Error reading map feature information" when I try
to add the MapInfo file. My map was created with MI-5.0 on
a colleague's computer and I am using Excel 97, could that
my problem? It is 8.3 file format. The knowledge base says
the table version # has to be 300 - what does this mean and
how do I determine the version?

Any help would be greatly appreciated, as always.
Thanks,

Rick Gray
