Attn: All GIS gurus! :o)
Here's my deal- I want a portable device (about the size of a palm pilot) that I can upload my arcview maps to (ArcPad?) and view my position on the map in realtime (need a GPS receiver!) and be able to scribble notes onto the screen (at least draw .shp files as points, lines, and polygons) and upload the new information to the original .apr file back in the lab.
Is this currently possible (with an accuracy within 1-5 meters)?, and if so, with what hardware/software combination, and at what amount of damage to my wallet (directly translated into hours spent writing a grant proposal! :o) ). Of course, the lighter it is the better (talk about having your cake and eating it too!)
Thanks so much for your help!
Cheers,
David
