First, I want to apologize for this cross-posting.
We have several private firms laying telecommunication conduit throughout our City. I've been asked to put together a Fiber Optics/Telecommunications layer on our GIS, and I need to come up with a data dictionary. Instead of reinventing the wheel, I'm hoping that someone can either point me to a site, or is willing to share their data dictionary. My plan is to acquire as many examples as possible, review them, study the plans submitted by the private firms, and then create a data dictionary that meets our needs.
I will summarize.

"The good cartographer is both a scientist and an artist. He must have a thorough knowledge of his subject and model, the Earth.... He must have the ability to generalize intelligently and to make a right selection of the features to show. These are represented by means of lines or colors: and the effective use of lines or colors requires more than knowledge of the subject - it requires artistic judgment."
