Jason,
The U.S. Geological Survey offers some land cover data (available for free download) at 1:250,000 and 1:100,000 scale. If you visit this URL (http://edcwww.cr.usgs.gov/doc/edchome/ndcdb/ndcdb.html) you will find a variety data sets.

Does anyone have any suggestions on obtaining land cover data in a scale that has better coverage than what I've been finding at 1:24,000 scale?
