Hello all! This is not strictly GIS - but related to data collection for a GIS study.
I am getting ready to go collect data in the field, and have some questions.... I am about to start searching for information for these products but thought I would consult everyone here, to see what those who are doing this type of work, and are actually using these products think - rather than what those who are trying to sell me the product have to say.
I am going to several cities and going to random selection of points (on streets) within each city related to my study. At each site I am going take several photographs with a digital camera of the area, as well as fill out a form describing features.
My question is have any of you used a digital cameral to collect data in the field? If so, what features or brand or type would you recommend? I would like the ability to take a lot in the field without having to bring along a laptop to down load the data to.
Also - for the descriptive data collection - the last time I did a study like this I just took photocopied forms into the field to fill out. This time I would like to use a palm pilot or other gadget - so I could just download it all. Does anyone have any recommendations on this? - and what software would I need to let me build such a database?
Thank you!!!
Erika
