GeoStudent -
These are by no means all inclusive, but they may give you a "feel" for the industry.
You might want to start out at The Omega Group www.theomegagroup.com. They specialize in complex customized Fire and Police GIS support, or possibly the Pennsylvania Firefighter site http://www.pafirefighter.net/. The sites have additional links to other Fire sites. The CADZone http://www.cadzone.com/index_fire.htm has some interesting pieces, as well as the PyroGeography Research Lab http://geog.arizona.edu/~yool/.
There's also an industry leading Fire Software site http://www.firehousesoftware.com/ that could be of some interest to your studies. Or you might want to check at www.emergency.com.
You might also want to look into ESRI http://www.esri.com/industries/public_safety/fire.html as they are used extensively to create databases that help in predictive analysis, incident response evaluation, etc.
Good luck.

Hello List!
I have viewed some of the postings and have found them very useful! I am fourth year undergraduate student in Geography and I look forward to using the List for information and to gain greater exposure to the field.
My research project/thesis is on "Evaluating the Efficiency of Fire Service Systems" and creating a response time model. If anyone has information, references, works on this area or experience in this area, any help would be appreciated!
Thanks!
