Listers,
Thanks to everyone who provided me with tips, tricks and guidance regarding my original posting on raster to vector conversion of georeferenced TIFF files to vector coverage format (as below).
The most plausible method we found using the tools we have: either ArcInfo and/or ArcView was as follows:
ArcInfo: First use IMAGEGRID command to convert the TIFFs to GRID format. Second, use the GRIDLINE command to convert the GRIDs to vector coverage format. Edit accordingly.
ArcView: Using AV3.2 and Spatial Analyst, you should be able to do a Themes:convert to grid, then a Themes:Convert to Shapefile.
The only outstanding issue I have is in regards to the quality of the resulting vector linework after the raster-to-vector conversion. They are a little pixelated or "stairstepped" in general. If anyone has any further ideas on how to better "smooth" these to match the original raster, please let me know.
Spatially yours, Travis
