The advantage that ArcView has is that it is easy to simplify the plot and show only the labels and features that you desire. Labels can scale to match the paper size of the plot.
Each piece of AutoCAD text is a definite height. If I want my building names to be legible at very different scales I have to copy the names to a second layer then resize the text and freeze the original text layer.
ArcView also allows for quicker map presentations in that you can assign colors to entities in a feature based on a value in a field in the attribute table.
I'm interested to hear what others think. We are an AutoCAD office but we are investigating ArcGIS.
