Subject: GISList: ArcINFO aml question
Date:  02/13/2002 07:37:18 AM
From:  Rick Gray

AML gurus,

I have just spent the last 1/2 hour fuitlessly searching the ESRI
site and elsewhere for an answer to 2 problems. I hope someone on
this list might be able to help.

I have to create some AMLs for workstation ArcINFO for class. I have
it doing all it should (import, clean, build from menu choices) but
now I want to enhance it.

1.) Is it possible to create a 'get file' type of window (like the
getchoice that displays coverages, features, etc.) where the user can
navigate to a directory containing the needed files and make that the
workspace? Right now my aml requires that the files already be in the
workspace where arc is running.

2.) When my window pops up with the choices for coverages to be built
or cleaned, if I click on cancel rather than on the coverage, I get
an error. How can I error check to avoid this?

I am relatively new to AMLs so I apolgize if my problems are very
basic.

Thanks,
Rick Gray
