Having been through the program... I would say this is the top GIS diploma
out there and comes with an MSc option. Where else can you get 12 courses
in GIS over two years?

I recently completed a program through the UNIGIS consortium - it was 12
GIS courses to complete the certificate program, and then a written
thesis to complete the MSC GIS component of the program. The entire
thing was a distance learning initiative completed over the Internet.
Certainly a different method of learning! I don't know of any web site
comparing, but if you need more information on the program I completed,
feel free to contact me again, or check out the UNIGIS web sites at

Penn State University advertises an online certificate program in GIS for
students who can't get on campus: http://www.gis.psu.edu/certificate.html
One more ... at City University (London) you can take a Masters degree in
Geographic Information via distance learning using the internet. Please
