Glenda,
There are on-line materials and a calendar of training sessions (all in
the US, I think) for training in the FGDC metadata standard at:
http://www.fgdc.gov/metadata/education.html
We are offering a course funded under the FGDC CAP program next month here
in New York, it is listed on the calendar. We will not be using
ArcCatalog but a freeware program called MetaLite.
