Subject: RE: GISList: http://www.GeoComm.com Nauseating

Well, I'm a fan of the site and I think it provides a valuable resource to
the GIS community. IMO it is better to air complaints like mine in an
interactive forum were many voices can be heard.

The responses have been informative. My take is that the site, and the
indivudals running the site, have many supporters. But it is interesting to
note that many, while supporting the site backers, agree that the blibverts
are annoying, and they are, as you put it: "just sit(ing) in silence and
spare(ing) the rest of us".

I don't think I'd want my trusted supporters to do that. I'd want the
feedback that I seem to have gone astray and adopted an inapproriate
advertising method for the audience.

Advertising is desirable on all sides. I know I depend upon it to learn
about new tools to "get the job done." But abusive Flash/rapid animation to
me represents the dark side of advertising. We deserve better.
