POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

DEPARTMENT OF HORTICULTURE AND LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTURE
COLORADO STATE UNIVERSITY
Fort Collins, Colorado

POSITION: Assistant Professor position in the landscape architecture
program, to commence August 15, 2002. This appointment is a full-time,
9-month position with opportunity for generating additional three months
salary. The beginning salary will be commensurate with experience and
competitive at the Assistant Professor level.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsibilities of the position, consistent with the
university’s land grant mission, include teaching, research, and
outreach. Teaching responsibilities involve environmental analysis,
landscape ecology, water management in the designed landscape, and
conservation planning. The appointee will be expected to develop a
program of scholarly work and creative activity addressing problems and
opportunities in landscape ecology and conservation planning, including
planning and design of resort communities, golf courses and ski areas.

QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum qualifications include a terminal degree in
one’s field of study and at least one degree in landscape architecture.
Focus on ecologically based design and planning. Professional practice
experience that includes excellent built works or implemented projects.
In addition, the search committee will use the following criteria for
selection: 1) demonstrated high level of skill in integrating the
science of ecology with the art of landscape architectural design: 2)
interest in or evidence of scholarship related to creative works or
design research: and 3) applications level knowledge of GIS, CADD, and
digital media.
