Seems like no-one has mentioned GLOBE yet, in this thread:

(Ill add it in just for the sake of completness)
GLOBE features:
* 30 arc second cell resolution
* Based on DTED0 and various other sources
Note: I also found GLOBE very easy to bring in into ArcInfo/ws for
manipulation/formatting -- in contrast to ETOPO5 and GTOPO30.
