Manifold 5.0 Professional

>overlaying maps?

Yes - with transparency (vector(areas) and raster)

>adding columns to maps?

Yes - static, calculated via script, linked to internal
or external table

>establishing an ODBC connection?

Yes - for attribute tables

>Need aditional spatial analysis tools?

No - also supports networks and has image and surface tools. 3D terrains,
w/fly through.

Also has a basic Internet Map Server(IMS).

Gobs of import formats.

Currently Manifold Professional 5 is a desktop tool. An Enterprise addition
that uses a shared file store (SQL Server, Oracle,...?) is coming sometime.

VBScript, JavaScript, Python... Note that Manifold uses Microsoft scripting,
not VBA.

Can also be programmed via VB6, VB.NET(I think, don't own .NET), and VBA
(not as ActiveX component but as an object(COM?)). I have used Excel VBA to
access Manifold maps and to create objects - really handy. Probably can also
be controlled from other .NET environs and C++ but I haven't messed with any
of those. Again note that this programming is not via a control, but via a
type library.

Manifold likes XP and Win2K with plenty of memory as a platform. It
tolerates Win9x and NT4. TNT2 graphics works great.
