I have found that exporting the layout to an .eps file and then use
GhostScript (freeware) or Adobe Distiller to convert the .eps file to a .pdf
and printing the .pdf file works. This or printing to the right postscript
printer will make the layer you intended to be a transparent pattern
actually print out as a transparent pattern.

Hello ALL
When I use a certain pattern for polygons in ArcView that allows me
to see another layer beneath it, the plotter (HP DesignJet 1055M) seems to
make it a white fill that covers everything up. Do you know of a way for
this to print out as it appears on my screen w/out the plotter assigning it
this unwanted fill?
