This is a one-button-push operation in ArcView, once you set it up correctly:
1. Inspect the control point table. When you are satisfied it looks good, activate its [shape] field. 2. Open the point file. Activate its [shape] field.
Ready?
Push the join button.
The joined table will take a second or two to create. It will contain a [distance] field for the distance to the nearest control point and it will contain all attributes of the nearest control point.
