The Caliper GIS software products (Maptitude and TransCAD) write *.MAP
files to store the settings for a map window.
MapInfo Professional has a *.MAP file as part of a TAB file for
points/lines/polygons, along with a *.DAT, an *.IND, and an *.ID file.
