I don't know where you get your numbers, but simple arithmetic would indicate ESRI has not remotely taken in the dollar volumes in revenue implied by 250,000 ArcGIS 8.x licenses. If you multiply 250,000 by the average selling price of ArcGIS 8.x you get a larger number than they've booked in the last few years. If that were true one would not hear quite so many tales of finanical unhappiness and desperate resumes coming out of Southern California. Then again, perhaps you assume a very low selling price for AG8.x. What do you think is the average per-seat buy in?
Cheers,
Dimitri
