Subject: GISList: Need data for Japan: Osaka, Tokyo, Kyoto
Date:  07/17/2002 04:46:37 PM
From:  Todd Helt

We are looking for a data provider(s) to provide city-wide datasets for the
cities of Osaka, Tokyo, and Kyoto, Japan.

The specific vector layers we are looking for are major roads, detailed
streets, rivers, lakes, parks, detailed country boundary. Prefer 1:100,000
or larger scale source and off-the-shelf digital data products, as the
timeline and $$ doesn't allow for custom data conversion. Detailed streets
should be a geocodable dataset and based on 1:25,000 or larger source.

The specific raster layers we are looking for are DEM (like a USGS NED
product), scanned topo maps (like a USGS DRG type product), and some type of
recent (<10 yr old) hi-res satellite or aerial imagery data (like a USGS
DOQQ type product). Imagery could be either B/W or color. Prefer that
imagery is mosaicked, lightly sid compressed (10-20x), and delivered as
seamless sid tiles approx 200Mb or smaller.

Projection for all data should be UTM (Zone 53) NAD83 meters.

Extent of coverage is a rectangle defined by each of the city boundaries
buffered by 10km.

The data will be deployed as part of an Internet GIS (map service), so a
licensing option for the data must be available that supports public access
Internet delivery of images derived from the licensed data. The data itself
will not be downloadable: however users will be able to access the image map
service to create and print small format maps, create custom image products,
and download these image products with georeferencing information. An
example of how the data will be utilized in the Internet GIS is available at
the David Rumsey Collection www.davidrumsey.com/gis, follow links to either
San Francisco Bay or Boston city map services.

Required delivery date is not later than August 30, 2002.

For additional information, contact Kjel Anderson at kjela@telemorphic.com
or 510-527-7186.

Thanks,

Todd
