Subject: GISList: ArcView 8.2 Question
Date:  08/06/2002 05:32:21 PM
From:  Hobbs, Jeff

All,

I am trying to connect to an Oracle Spatial 9i database, release 2 using the
direct connect option. I am using ArcView 8.2 as the client. When I try and
connect, I keep getting an error. I have followed the help including using
"sde:oracle" as the service name and also referring to my service name plus
my password in the password column.

I DON'T have SDE installed and am not using SDE. I was told I wouldn't need
to with the direct connect option. However I would only be able to read.=20

Do I need to create metadata/schema/etc in the database although I'm using
the direct connect option? Does 8.2 support Oracle 9i release 2?

Thanks for your help in advance!
