AddRecno.ave (ArcView 3.x) is what you're probably looking for: it should be a system script, otherwise you can download it from arcscripts.esri.com. It works on themes in a view document, adds a new field (Recno) in the table of attributes and populate it with numerical values (1...n).
Have fun.

Dear All,
Does any one know of an arcview script, or even a procedure, whereby for each polygon in a shapefile, i can write the polygon ids of all the adjoining polygons to a file?
Thanks in advance john
