Sounds great, but if it ends up like the UN Atlas of the oceans it will be just another nearly useless "webstacle" that provides images and no access to the real data.
Perhaps listers could respectfully write and suggest that they provide links to downloadable GIS data in some reasonable form, such as shapefiles, to allow people to actually use the maps in significant ways?
