What county are you talking about here? That's right in the middle as far
as what municipalities are charging these days.
If you want a laugh, see what the city of Scottsdale, AZ is charging for
their data (I challange anyone to top this):
Color Orthophotography 1.5' BMP with BPW Citywide $12,300.00
Contours 3D DGN Citywide $24,600.00
Elevation Models Citywide $24,600.00

Anyone have $137,000 lying around for some rinky-dink city data? In
general, since taxpayers pay to create the data, and it's in the public
domain, it should be free to whomever requests it...but that's just me.
I've found in my dealings with beurocrats and their GIS data, they are
really hesitant to give it to anyone in the private sector. I hazard to
guess it's becasue they don't want anyone to find their mistakes and try to
hold them accountable. We should start lobbying for free public GIS data
(oh, and a few standards would be nice too!)

Hello List,
I have a question. The county I live in is going to start charging for
GIS data. I was hoping to hear from other counties, cities, users, etc.
I am trying to find out if other counties even charge for data, and if
so their pricing structure. The county pricing structure is listed
below, and this seems like a lot, considering there are about 583 tiles
in our county. We were told this is based on the pricing structure of
other counties, including Richland County here in South Carolina.
