We are a Not for Profit 501(c)(3) (status pending) Public Charity. We are = preparing the budget for the following project: We have found that the gove= rnment agencies throughout the State of Florida are either unable or unwill= ing to provide to the public, in an easy to understand form, mapping inform= ation about Florida's Public Waterways. As you may or may not be aware, th= e State of Florida has approximately three thousand miles of navigable wate= rways that include rivers and drainage canals. What we propose is to put o= n our Corporate Website, that is currently under construction, some type of= user friendly map information system divided into two parts.=20=20
Part I- This will be a map representation of the specific body of water, wh= ether it be a canal, river or lake. This representation should identify th= e body of water, its location in relation to more well known landmarks, the= boat ramps and docks and in the case of certain waterways, the location of= boat fuel and bait shops. We would post this on the Public Side of our Cor= porate Website.=20=20
Part II - On the Members Only Section of our Corporate Website, we would wa= nt additional information to include thermal mapping and topographic contou= rs of the bottom of said waterway. All of this presented in a three dimens= ional representation with an easy to use, user interface.=20
The reasons that we feel this information is necessary is that we believe f= ish hold closer to structure (naturally occurring topographic formations), = not cover (sunken tree limbs, boats, piers, docks, etc.)
I realize that this project could be very expensive. What I need to know i= s can it be done, how long would it take and how much money would be requir= ed to achieve these goals? We are also looking to assemble a volunteer com= mittee to develop and supervise the project. If any of you have thoughts o= n this that you would like to share or could point us in a direction to fin= d the information we need, we would greatly appreciate it. We understand th= at what you do is an extremely technical and precise profession. We are, b= y no stretch of the imagination, map experts.
Come look at our one web page, found at www.flabass.org for a brief descrip= tion of our organization and if possible, respond to me at dposner@flabass.= org.
