Carl,
As an organization which has spent a fair amount of time trying to get an SFSQL open source database out there (postgis.refractions.net) I do have a question, which speaks to the idea of OGC partners leveraging their membership for preferential treatment:
Why was SFSQL "conformance" broken into several parts (normalized geometry, and types and functions)? There is nothing sillier to me than seeing OracleSpatial in the list of "conformant" products when they have essentially ignored the SFSQL required functions list, and required text representations. The whole "normalized geometry" category seems like little more than a trick to allow Oracle to claim a "conformance" they are not willing to make the effort to achieve. So why was the category made?
Irked but not broken, Paul
