Programmer - GIS Specialist

The Center for International Earth Science Information Network (CIESIN) of
Columbia University is seeking a GIS specialist with experience in
Web-based mapping applications, open standards for data interoperability,
and database development. Candidate should have a strong background in GIS
and experience with relational database management systems for developing
and integrating custom GIS applications.

B.S. in geography, computer science or related field and at least three
years (3) of experience, or MS and equivalent training in GIS database
development and programming using ESRI products, including at least three
of the following: ArcGIS/ArcInfo, ArcObjects, ArcIMS, and ArcSDE.
Demonstrated skills with Visual Basic and with developing databases and
applications using Oracle or SQL Server required. Experience with Web
application development, Internet Map Server technologies, Open GIS
Consortium specifications, and Object-Oriented analysis and design. C/C++,
XML, GML and Java skills are a strong plus. Advanced degree Preferred.
