Subject: RE: GISList: Line Length
Date:  01/07/2003 11:20:52 AM
From:  Gary Andersen

ArcMap (ArcView 8.2) displays the distance read-out at the bottom right
corner.

To view the distance in "feet" . . . Open Data Frame Properties Box/General
Tab set Display to "Feet."

Also ... when in edit mode you can draw the exact distance simply by setting
the first point of your line then type Crl-L and type in the 50' distance in
the box. Then press enter.

You can also right click after setting first point and select "Length" and
type in your desired distance.

Hope this helps.

Hello List,
Does anyone know of a script or way that as you draw a line the distance
can be seen on the screen. So that if you need a line that is 50' long
you can watch the numbers change until you get close to 50'. We are
drawing stormwater pipes and would like to get them close to their
actual distance. We are using ArcView 8.2. Thanks in advance.
