Hi,
Please note that GML (the primary data encoding for geographic data) requires that geometries have srsNames. srsName attributes can point to registry entries that describe the coordinate system, thus proving the metadata you are looking for. You can look at http://crs.opengis.org/crsportal/index.html for an example.
