Subject: Re: GISList: GIS P2P - * Market Research Question *
Date:  01/20/2003 08:21:53 PM
From:  Ron Lake

Hi,

Please note that GML (the primary data encoding for geographic data) requires
that geometries have srsNames. srsName attributes can point to registry entries
that describe the coordinate system, thus proving the metadata you are looking
for. You can look at http://crs.opengis.org/crsportal/index.html for an
example.

Cheers

Ron
