Subject: RE: GISList: Re: GIS P2P * Market Research Question *
Date:  01/27/2003 11:21:16 AM
From:  J Bee

Sorry folks, but just as Dimitri views this as an open
forum, so do I, and I thank everyone for their emails
of support to me. Therefore, I will summarize my
responses to each flamer accuser via this email.
Let's begin with Prof. Dimitri's slightly condensed
version of War and Peace:

While he is backtracking in his response email, Prof.
Dimitri has without a doubt used this list as his
primary marketing tool. The fact that numerous others
and I have grown extremely wary of it and choose to
speak out certainly does not make us "flamers" Hey,
don't dish it out if you can't take it.

Prof. Dimitri actually hits the nail on the head (if
you have the required 3 1/2 hours to read his post).
Maptitude is an excellent product, and is just as
affordable as his 1 million + lines of code. Sorry,
but I don't know how many lines of code Maptitude has,
nor do I care. It works, and it works to perfection.
See how simple that was? Disclosure: I don't work
for Caliper.

He also wrote:

"That's why I write book-length essays, because I see
nuances in the material that I feel should be
unfolded. If you disagree, no problem: don't read my
posts and all will be well."

Well, well, well, what hypocrisy we have here! What
about if you don't agree with my posts? Shouldn't
your own medicine apply? Seems like we have two
different standards here...Bottom line is you call me
a flamer, and I call you a blowhard. I'll stand by my
words.

Concerning what others have said:

“I'd suggest kvetching directly at Dimitri at his
not-so-secret address of dar@manifold.net, and letting
the balance of us poor working stiffs do just that.

Amor y besitos,

Pat Waggaman”

Well, I'd suggest that if Dimitri writes addressing
this list, I and who ever else wants to, should
respond to this list. It's called freedom of
expression.

------------------------------------------------
"The aggressive replies to some of these messages was
uncalled for. Everyone here is entitled to and
certainly has an opinion, but I for One totally
discount opinions that are shoved down my throat. So
if you Want your voice heard, whisper.

By the way, Dimitri's marketing _works_. I learned
about Manifold here because of Dimitri. I purchased it
because at $395 I could hardly afford not to. I am now
working on a GIS implementation for a client who would
otherwise not have existed, but for the price and
features of Manifold.

Excuse me while I don my asbestos suit.....

David M. Brubacher O.L.S. O.L.I.P.
Geomatica Inc."

Hey, the only thing being shoved down your throat is
most likely a piece of pizza...At least you are
willing to admit Prof. Dimitri constantly uses this
list for his own gain, which is what I am "flaming"
about. You can now return to your pizza...

-----------------------------------------------
When I get back to the office I'll be disengaging from
this list and subscribing.

Best to All,

Anthony"

If that's the way you feel, just do it. Why the need
for a public anouncement? I think it's safe to say
that the loss is yours...

Peace, love, joy and happiness-

Bob The Accused Flamer

(not to be confused with Flaming Bob...)
