Subject: RE: GISList: Autocad to Arcinfo
Date:  02/19/2003 02:55:08 PM
From:  Karen Morley

alternatively, if you have a copy of Autodesk Map you can create a linked
polygon topology that preserves all of your attribute parcel information
(such as parcel number etc) and export directly to an ArcInfo polygon
coverage. This will retain the associated attribute data that is not
inherent to the polygon itself.

hi vinod,

Export the autocad 'dwg' file to dxf format. Use "dxfarc" command in arc
system interface to convert it to a coverage. Build the coverage using
"build" command. When the coverage is formed a <coverage>.XCODE file is
generated.

Using "joinitem" join the <coverage>.PAT with <coverage>.XCODE to retain all
the attributes for the polygon.

Thank you.

with rgds.
