Original Q:
I have a point shapefile that I have added some new points to. No
problem. But when I try to update the theme table, it will not accept
the changes. As soon as I hit enter, the value reverts to its
original, which in the case of the newly added points, is blank. I
tried adding a new field. Also no problem, but anything I enter in
the new column will not stay. I have tried saving edits, even closing
the project and re-opening it, but it still behaves the same. If I
try to edit another theme, everything works as expected. It seems to
be just this one theme. Any suggestions?
Solutions:
Thanks everyone for the suggestions. Far too many to list here, but
the bulk of you suggested to convert it to a new shapefile. I did
that on my own right after posting the original message and it had
worked. For those that had variations on the idea of stopping
editing, etc. - I have also had this problem in the past and your
ideas always worked for me then. This time they just had no effect.
Another bug, I guess. From the responses, it looks like this problem
is not too unusual.
