Hi !
As I know the "simpliest" way to automaticaly detect water bodies is infrared photography from a satelite :-).
Can anyone suggest some more practical possibilities for automated water detection in aerial photography ? I just wrote a small script using RGB ratio, but it works good on scanned bathymetric or other maps and aerial shots taken in close-to-ideal conditions only (blue sky, no hard waves, etc.). I'd apreciate any suggestions. Thank you in advance.
