Hi I apologize for the cross-posting, but I need as many opinions as I can get.
We are planning to deploy ArcSDE on a dedicated "database" server for our County data. We are seriously considering a Linux (RedHat Advanced Server 2.1) with Oracle (9i) environment versus a more traditional Windows 2000 with Microsoft SQL Server 2000 installation. My first question is: Is anyone out there deploying SDE on Linux? Second: What are everyone's opinions on the pros and cons of either configuration? Over the last few months I have asked a lot of people what they thought of deploying SDE on a Linux box and I continually heard the same response, "Is it supported?" ESRI does support a couple of implementation scenarios. Most people have warned me that it's a bumpier road because of the lack of user support (very few others are deploying on Linux apparently). I am curious to know why others might have decided or not decided to go with Linux. Thanks a lot Mike
