Hello List,
I am trying to create a numeric field with a unique number that will be associated with a string field in my table for the purpose of labeling on a map. I know that I can just use the FID field, except that I want a one-to-many association of the number field to my string field (i.e.1 = all name fields equal to "Hardy"). I'm trying to export my table and manipulate it in excel (I'm working in the ARC/GIS environment), but I have little experience in excel and seem to be hitting a road block. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks so much in advance,
